I can't believe I made it halfway there! It's still early but I feel great today!
Yesterday I didn't know if I was going to make it. I felt really weak (perhaps from throwing up the night before) and Kai said I was really pale. We have a juicer, so I juiced a couple strawberries and added the juice to my lemon concoction. It made me feel better and able to work during the Lakers game.
Here is a list of things I am craving:
-- Sushi!!!
-- Jorge's chicken soup!!
-- BJ's chopped chicken salad
I am craving chicken really bad, I think its cause I don't have any protein. But in 5 days, I can have it -- as long as its in juice form. Breaking the fast will be a whole 'nother process.
Oh -- and I've lost 9 pounds :)

Sob stories..
This fast has made me cry alot. Way way more than usual.
I wonder if its the low blood sugar. Or perhaps emotion cleansing?
Who knows..
Today is really tough.

Day 3.. Ugh..
So I am on day 4 -- but let's recap day 3.
I felt great all day! I had awesome energy, cooked Kaili an awesome dinner, and felt motivated through the whole thing. The trouble came when I did my saltwater flush!
I convinced Kai to ditch the chocolate chip cookies I was gonna make her (told you, bad for her - good for me) and do the saltwater flush! We both got *so* sick... I am not sure if its doing it two days in a row (Kai did it 3) or if there was more salt but I immediately threw up. It was absolutely horrible -- I decided to stick with the tea tonight and from now on! Oddly, the salt water still had the intended effects. I dunno!
Today I feel good. I feel like I have a cold - which is apparently part of the fast because it's ridding toxins from my body so I am getting odd pains and a cold. 6 days left, I am almost halfway there!
More later.

Day 3 and recap of Day 2 Evening
So the Salt Water Flush wasn't too bad. The taste is pretty horrible - but the effects are well worth it! It's kinda like drinking two glasses of ocean water...miserable. The end results sound like (pardon the gross) pouring water bottles into the toilet. I do it tonight too -- kinda refreshing!
Today I woke up feeling good! A little dehydrated, so today I am going to work on drinking more water. I also used my automatic juicer for the first time this morning -- apparently, it produces more pulp in the juice which has more vitamins, minerals, and fiber.. It came out less clear of a yellow, a bit more cloudy like orange juice. I will find out today if the taste is any different!
I also learned that my juicer can do wheatgrass! Before I began this fast, I was having wheatgrass every morning. It's nice to know that when I finish the fast, I'll be able to grow it and still make it drink-able! So cool!!
Off to work for the day -- day 3 is supposed to be when things start getting easier! I'll keep you posted...

Day 2 .. Evening
So far, so good. (i think that is going to be my motto for the next 8 days)
I am really doing okay -- still feeling motivated and I seem to subside my hunger pains with water. The end of my 1L of magic mixture is always really spicy - I think the cayenne settles and the last three gulps are usually pretty miserable. The stinging in my throat seems to be something I will get used to!
I also decided that cooking is something that makes me really happy. Even if it isn't for me! Today at work I cut up about 8 loaves of bread for croutons and didn't even eat one piece. I was impressed with myself. Then tonight I helped Kaili make cream cheese wontons, pork wontons (with a dipping sauce I invented but didn't try!), and tacos. I am looking up a dessert recipe that has ingredients we have in the house. I guess these are things I normally do but you'd think that given my current state of empty stomach, it would be a deterrent! It's not.
Poor Kaili is going to gain weight while I'm cleansing!
I was really excited to do this cleanse and looked forward to it for a few weeks. I am still really motivated -- I am finding that my connection with food isn't a healthy one and it's really nice to take a step back and realize something I felt I needed is actually something I am doing just fine without. Rewarding and enlightening.
Still dreading the salt water cleanse -- don't worry, I'll keep you posted!

Day 2 of 10 v2
I just got off work and feel great! I picked up hours as a washer/delivery driver which was much more physically demanding than usual but I felt great and powered through it.
Tonight is my salt-water flush, I'm sure I'll share the gross details when it's over!!

Day 2...
Good Morning!
Day 1 ended and I was starving and crabby. I didn't finish the rest of my drink - perhaps too much cayenne pepper! I figured that cayenne was no biggie because I love spicy food (mmm..food).. but I was wrong. Its more than eating a jalapeno, it kinda burns all the way down my esophagus. So today I made the same drink but added a bit less cayenne. Hopefully that works!
I woke up today with a lot of energy -- I slept through the morning hunger pains and woke up ready to do laundry, get ready for work, and feel pretty motivated. Supposedly, this will be the hardest day to get through. I am staying positive -- and avoiding my favorite cooking shows!
Tonight I do my first salt water flush, *gulp*. It's probably a good thing because without it, I don't know if I will poop!
I am off to work -- which I am hoping isn't too difficult. Working in a restaurant on a fast feels like it could be bad news, but I know I am this far... no turning back! Plus, I have meditation time to look forward to.
More later!

Day 1 of 10
Day 1 --
Recently, I have felt really uncomfortable in my body. I have wanted to get back in shape, start eating healthy, and recently I felt the antsy need-for-change anxiety I get about every six - eight months. So in response to my body and unfocused mind, I decided to do a whole body cleanse in the form of a 10 day fast. The fast is accompanied by a lemonade mixture (lemonade, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper) and salt water flush each evening.
I am taking the next ten days to focus on myself, my body, and my mind. I have set time aside to meditate, spend time alone, and spend quality time with Kaili. I know that it is time for me to focus and get back in health - in a lot of ways!
Soo... why blog? Well, I've read writing the foods down that you are craving helps get rid of the craving! But besides that, I think it is important to share the details of the fast - many of you plan to do it :) and I think I can prepare you for the worst - and best - through my experiences. Plus, if I need motivation - this is probably a good place to go!
--------------
Day 1 -
Last night, as instructed, I drank my organic laxative tea. Ouch! I've taken it before but it never fails to give me cramps and I suppose the desired result! It takes about 8 hours to work, so I take it right before bed so I can get some sleep! I learned the hard way, if you take it too early it definitely works earlier.
This morning, I took meditation time at the beach. Truly incredible. And now I am working on drinking my first lemonade of the morning. More later...
Cheers to day 1!
