Oh gravity, stay the hell away from me

Fire: the event of something burning (often destructive); "they lost everything in the fire" (wikipedia).

So much tragedy surrounds the recent fires in Southern California. It seems like, as things burn, it is easier to distance ourselves from the emotional aspects and turn to faulting and finding reasons as to why this happens. Sometimes, I think, understanding peoples' fear, losses, and experiencing (or at least realizing) the humanity behind these tragedies are what bring people closer together. And sometimes it is the only thing we can do to help.

Kaili's families were evacuated because of the fires in San Diego. It seems as though both houses are in the clear - which is really amazing news. Sadly, others aren't as lucky and I know that as the damage is uncovered and more houses are revealed, things that seem surreal now may become more personal to her and her family. We can only hope for the best.

In other news, I have officially doubled up in courses. If I disappear, that is why. If you look at my life in semester framework, I am taking 8 classes a semester. My day planner has become meticulously laid out and my social life is suffering the same consequence. However, these are things that are important.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am looking for a book-club! I would prefer a queer book club, but I am not sure that is going to happen given the geographical place I currently reside. If you know of anything or hear of anything, please advise!!

Now back to work.

21st Birthday - Adding more later!

Work birthday! It's a candle. On Flan. Sweet innocent fun!

My ladies on my birthday! Guess what! I'm 21!Sometimes when people are tallying the 14th drink on your back, it becomes tough to stand.
It's cute. I know. I wish I remembered taking it.

It's a little bit funny... this feeling inside

Update #1:

Picture me here:

With her:

December 13 - 17. SO. EXCITED.

Update #2:

Remember that strategic plan that I had to do for work? Did it. Aced it. I am going to Phoenix in the Spring to move up in the company. Ah-mazing.

Also, you need to know that the Super Bowl this year is in the University of Phoenix Stadium. Don't ask why we have a stadium. We don't have sports. But it is! and I lied. This is my co-worker. Playing sports on football day

Update #3:
Like Spoken-word? Check out Buddywakefield.com.

This is him:

I went to a Spoken-word show with an old friend from

I learned a couple things that evening:
a) I miss going out and doing LB-style-art things.
b) All lesbians in Long Beach look the same.
c) People are, in general, incredible. Especially when they become real people instead of
objects

Update #4:

Okay, maybe I didn't have an update... most importantly: I am going to Boston!

It wasn't until I was older that all the answers became questions

It's another Monday. and yes it feels like one. For those of you who have seen Office Space, I have a severe case of the Monday's. I am exhausted from work and it's only 1:25. On the same accord, I can't believe it's already 1:25!

I wrote this blog for two reasons. The first is merely due to the realization that there are some things I will never understand until it happens to me. For example, shoes on the freeway. How does that even happen? Also, whose responsibility is it to clean roadkill of an interstate like the 5? Does anybody have the answers or experiences that can make these natural wonders a little bit more clear?

In other news, I am still bread, sugar, beer, and cheese-free.

The second reason for writing this is of more importance, today is National Latino AIDS Awareness Day. A couple facts:

  • In 2005, Latinos made up 18% of the estimated 1 million AIDS cases diagnosed since HIV started in the U.S. over 25 years ago, despite making up only 14% of the U.S. population

  • HIV/AIDS became the fourth leading cause of death among Latino men and women between 35 to 44 years old in 2004

You've been a long time gone

Well, Blogworld. I am back! Generally, I have limited internet access at work so this is the only website I can use. I am really only on the computer at work now because I am so busy otherwise.

Not many updates in my life. The world of the girlfriend is ah-mazing. Unexplainable really, only to say that it's exactly how it should be. I am not sure what that entails, except that everything is right. and comfortable. and feeling abnormally long-term. we're closer to six months now, than we are to five - and it all goes by so quickly. I am very fortunate.

I am 21 now! Finally! (<--which is exactly what Elizabeth wrote on my I'm 21! shirt) and so far so good! I went out to Broadway on Wednesday and it was so awesome. I think it is one of the best bar experiences I've had (imagine that!). A good group of friends and eighteen drinks later.. I was pretty set. I didn't get sick, surprisingly, but the last half of the evening is fuzzy, if it even exists at all.

Then I went to Las Vegas... AMAZING. Despite a couple grumpy moods, it was such a good trip. I saw Zumanity (the Cirque show) and it was so incredible. It was Kaili's first show and I think it was a good one. I won 400 dollars in gambling. Then my wallet got stolen. But alas, I am replacing the innards of my wallet and moving on. It was a great weekend and wallets are nothing but materialistic items. Highlights: the TV in our bathroom mirror, the Bellagio Gardens, and Beer Pong Tables!

School graduation date has been set, as long as everything goes as planned: August 08. Oh yes! CSULB for my Masters, here I come!

Cheers.
